Welcome to the Sign Revision Taskforce Website!

In 2003-4, the Sign Regulations were amended to address the Off-Premises Advertising Signs (a/k/a/ Billboards).

Picking up at the end of 2004, the Sign Revision Taskforce resumes the work of revising the Sign Regulations of Indianapolis-Marion County.

The charge of the Taskforce is to recommend constitutionally valid revisions to the On-Premise Sign Regulations that reflect community standards of aesthetics and the need for a strong local economy.

Additionally, the Taskforce seeks to:

  • reduce need for variances
  • adjust eclectic sign limitations to more appropriately reflect current business climate
  • strengthen downtown revitalization
  • avoid inconsistent or arbitrary size standards and measurements
  • achieve clear, consistent, and unified definitions and language
  • tie standards to known parameters such as speed limit, optimum driver views, etc.
  • seek improved quality of life, aesthetics, and safety.
