Welcome to the Division of Economic Development!

The main focus of The Economic Development Division is to assist with the implementation of commercial, industrial and retail development projects that promote job creation and retention and increase the tax base. While at the same time, assisting with neighborhood projects that revitalize communities.

The Division's responsibilities also include:

  • Recommendations to the Metropolitan Development Commission regarding approval of economic incentives, such as tax abatements.

  • Maintaining inventory of City owned property and acquiring and disposing of property under the redevelopment law for the Department of Metropolitan Development (DMD).

  • Property management responsibilities that include overseeing day to day property management issues of DMD owned properties.

NOTE: The US EPA has determined that Central State is not eligible for the US EPA Brownfields Clean-up Program nor for the US EPA Brownfields Multi-Purpose Pilot Grant.  As a result, the public meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 24th, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Christamore Court Apartments Community Room, 2330 West Michigan Street has been canceled.
