Patricia A. Martin was named vice president of global diversity for Eli Lilly and Company in June 2006. She leads the implementation of the company’s integrated diversity strategy inclusive of workforce and marketplace diversity, chairs the diversity leadership council, and is a member of the company’s senior management council.
Born in Wabash, Indiana, Martin received a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Indiana University in 1982 and a masters of business administration from the Harvard Business School in 1991.
Martin joined Lilly in 1991 as a financial analyst. She was promoted to manager of finance for the company’s endocrine business unit in 1995. In June 1997, she was promoted to director of investor relations. This was followed by the position of director of the Lilly Centre for Women’s Health in 2000; executive director of alliance management in July 2001; followed by osteoporosis global brand team leader in 2004. Martin also has held positions in Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL) financial and human resources.
Martin serves as Healthcare Businesswomen Association (HBA) National Advisory Board member; National Alliance for Hispanic Health Corporate Advisory Council member; Dean's Council member for the Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business; and Indianapolis LaPlaza board member
She is a Champion of Diversity Award recipient from Indiana Minority Business Magazine, February 2008; Hoosier Fellow, Class of 2007; and served previously on the Women’s Fund of Central Indiana board and executive committee and American Heart “Go Red for Women”.
