FLOOD VICTIMS RECEIVE TRANSITIONAL HOUSING

INDIANAPOLIS – (June 13, 2008) All residents who were displaced by the recent tornado in Marion County and have registered with the Red Cross have been placed into transitional housing. The City of Indianapolis, along with the Red Cross, the Community Alliance of the Far-Eastside (CAFÉ), the Salvation Army and other non-profit organizations are now working to place every resident in long-term housing.

Any residents still in need of transitional housing should contact the Red Cross at 317-684-1441. Residents seeking assistance with long-term housing should contact CAFÉ at 317-890-3288.

Residents and businesses who sustained losses in either the recent tornado or thunderstorms can begin applying for assistance from FEMA by registering online at www.fema.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1800-462-7585 for the hearing and speech impaired. These toll free numbers will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week.
