CITY OF INDIANAPOLIS RESPONDS TO FLOODING IN SURROUNDING COUNTIES
INDIANAPOLIS – (June 9, 2008) In response to the rain event and flooding that occurred over parts of Indiana during the weekend, crews from the Indianapolis Fire Department and Marion County Emergency Management were made available to provide assistance.
Specifically, the Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) sent Station 7 and a dive boat to assist Hendricks and Morgan counties. IFD also sent Station 14 to assist with evacuations in Morgan County and a fuel truck to support Hendricks County.
Marion County Emergency Management opened the Emergency Operations Center to support Marion County efforts and also provided assistance to Hendricks, Morgan and Johnson counties.
In addition, the American Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis opened shelters and service centers to support flood efforts in Johnson, Marion, Hendricks and Morgan counties.
