Mayor Ballard Names Grand, Tobias to Serve on Indy Boards

INDIANAPOLIS (January 29, 2008) – Mayor Greg Ballard today named Bob Grand and Randall Tobias to serve on the City of Indianapolis Capital Improvement Board and Airport Authority Board respectively.

“The citizens of Indianapolis are fortunate to have men of this caliber answering the call to public service,” Ballard said. “I have no doubt that both Bob and Randall will do an outstanding job of serving our citizens in this capacity and I look forward to working with them throughout their tenure here.”

Grand is a managing partner and member of the Governmental Services and Finance Department of the Indianapolis office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP. With a concentration on public finance and governmental regulation, Grand counsels state and county officials including mayors on various aspects of finance and economic development issues.

Tobias is the former Chairman, President and CEO of Eli Lilly and Company. He was appointed in 2003 by President George W. Bush to serve as the United States Global AIDS Coordinator with the rank of Ambassador. In this capacity he was responsible for overseeing all U.S. international HIV/AIDS assistance and coordinating the efforts of various agencies and departments of the U.S. government that deliver on those efforts. Throughout his professional career, Tobias has served on a number of corporate boards including AT&T, Eli Lilly and Company, Kimberly-Clark Corporation and ConocoPhillips Petroleum, just to name a few.
