Mayor to join city crews as they perform targeted clean-up in neighborhood facing challenges with crime
Indianapolis – In the city’s ongoing effort to attack neighborhood blight in high crime areas, Mayor Bart Peterson will join crews from the Department of Public Works, Department of Metropolitan Development, Animal Care & Control, the Marion County Health Department and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department as they perform an extensive neighborhood clean-up, also known as a neighborhood blitz.
WHEN: Wednesday, June 13 1:30 p.m.
WHERE: 724 W. 26th St.
Crews will begin the clean-up at 8 a.m. with a brief ‘roll call’ meeting at Pilgrim Church, 1060 W. 30th St., and will clean up a portion of the United Northwest Area bounded by 30th St., 24th St., Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and Burton Ave.
Neighborhood blitzes first began in the summer of 2006 as a part of the city’s summer crime fighting strategy.
