Indianapolis 2011 bid presentation in Nashville
Indianapolis – Indianapolis 2011, Inc. will formally make its bid presentation to host Super Bowl XLV in 2011 at the National Football League owners' meeting next week.
When: Members of the working group will arrive in Nashville on Sunday, May 20. The presentation to the NFL owners will be on Tuesday, May 22. According to the NFL, a decision and announcement is expected at the end of the morning session on Tuesday (approximately 1 p.m. Nashville time).

Who: The members of the presentation team will be announced Tuesday. Representatives of the Indianapolis Colts will be in Nashville as well. Indianapolis' working group members in Nashville will include:

Background Info: In January, the City of Indianapolis launched, Indianapolis 2011, Inc., its effort to attract the 2011 Super Bowl to Indianapolis.
Financing. Indianapolis 2011, Inc. pledged to raise all funding for the effort privately. The expenses are estimated to be in the $20 million to $25 million range. Indianapolis Colts Owner & CEO Jim Irsay was the first to pledge funding, $1 million, toward the effort.
Economic impact. Hosting Super Bowl XLV would bring an estimated 98,000 visitors and $262 million in economic impact to the Indianapolis region, according to an independent national study released by PricewaterhouseCoopers earlier this year.
Worldwide exposure. Hosting the Super Bowl would shine a worldwide spotlight on the Indianapolis region. The Super Bowl is annually the nation's highest-rated TV program. The 10 most-watched programs in television history are all Super Bowls. Super Bowl XLI was broadcast to worldwide in more than 230 countries and territories.
Co-chairs. Co-chairs of Indianapolis 2011, Inc. are Mayor Bart Peterson, Gov. Mitch Daniels, Irsay, and Anton "Tony" George, president & CEO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the largest single-day sporting event in the world, the Indianapolis 500.
Officers. The effort is otherwise led by Fred Glass and other bid team officers: Cathy Langham, president, Langham Transportation Services & chair, Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce; John Lechleiter, president & COO, Eli Lilly & Company; and Dr. Eugene White, superintendent, Indianapolis Public Schools.
Previous steps taken. Indianapolis already has taken several steps toward bidding for the Super Bowl. Over the past year, officials have been working with stakeholders to research and put together Indianapolis' bid. In addition:
- The city has had numerous conversations with the NFL. Mayor Peterson and Gov. Daniels both have spoken to former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue on several occasions. Peterson also has spoken with current Commissioner Roger Goodell.
- City & state officials have visited with other NFL officials in New York, Philadelphia and Indianapolis;
- City officials met with Roger Penske, chairman of Detroit's Super Bowl Host Committee, and other Detroit officials who organized Super Bowl XL in 2006; and
- Indianapolis sent a delegation to South Florida earlier this year to study the preparation and planning for Super Bowl XLI.
