Mayor to honor The Caring Place of Calvary Temple for crime prevention efforts
Indianapolis – Mayor Bart Peterson will present The Caring Place of Calvary Temple with this month’s Character Achievement award, which recognizes the program for its crime prevention efforts focused on providing youth with healthy, safe and positive activities.
The Mayor will visit with youth participating in the program and make the award presentation tomorrow.
When: Saturday, May 12 10:30 a.m.
Where: The Caring Place; 666 East 22nd St. (Northwest corner of 22nd and College)
In order to highlight community-led crime prevention efforts, Mayor Bart Peterson has decided to focus his Character Achievement award over the next several months on honoring little-known community programs that provide positive alternatives for youth and other at-risk populations.
Calvary Temple’s Caring Place has worked for 20 years establishing relationships, reaching out and touching hundreds of families in the Indianapolis community. On a weekly basis, approximately 600 youth are ministered through classes, programs and learning activities.
Since Mayor Peterson took office, he has given monthly awards to outstanding individuals and programs for demonstrating excellent character.
