New program to be awarded $100,000 to increase college attendance among IPS high school students
Indianapolis – Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) Superintendent Dr. Eugene White, Mayor Bart Peterson and David Harris, president & CEO of The Mind Trust, will announce the launch of College Summit in the City of Indianapolis today.
College Summit is a national organization that increases college-going rates among low-income students. They will be joined by J. B. Schramm, the founder of College Summit and Martha Lamkin, President and CEO of Lumina Foundation.
When: TODAY - Monday, April 9 10:30 a.m.
Where: Manual High School, Mini Auditorium 2405 Madison Ave.
The Mind Trust is a new non-profit that focuses on supporting public education by attracting highly talented educational leaders and quality programs to the city. Mayor Peterson is chairman of the board of The Mind Trust.
The organization worked closely with IPS to recruit College Summit to Indianapolis and is providing $100,000 to launch a pilot program at Emmerich Manual High School on the city’s south side.
