Mayor solicits nominees for 2007 Community Service Awards
Indianapolis – Mayor Bart Peterson is looking for a few good volunteers to honor for the 2007 Community Service Awards.
The Mayor's Community Service Awards recognize exceptional local volunteers for their contributions and commitments to improving Indianapolis through service to others.
Eligibility and award criteria include the following:
- The nominee should demonstrate personal service to local citizens, while meeting community needs.
- The nominee will be judged on initiative and good work accomplished through service.
- Nominations should be made for direct service, board service or administrative volunteering.
- An individual, agency, corporation or organization may nominate individuals.
- A panel of judges comprised of leaders of local volunteer organizations will make the final award decisions.
- Nominees must be residents of the City of Indianapolis/Marion County.
The nomination deadline is Friday, June 15, 2007. Nomination forms are available on the city's website, www.indygov.org/eGov/Mayor/Neighborhoods/Community_Service/home.htm, and at Indianapolis-Marion County Public Libraries. Applications may also be requested by calling 327-3601.
Last year, twenty local volunteers received Mayor's Community Service Awards. Since 1993, more than 500 Indianapolis volunteers have been recognized for their contributions and commitment to community service.
All volunteers are honored with personalized, engraved bricks on the Mayor's Community Service Award Plaza, which is located at the northern end of the Downtown Canal Walk.
