Mayor to host “City Hall for a Day” in Clermont
Indianapolis – Mayor Bart Peterson and members of his administration will host the 14th “City Hall for a Day” tomorrow in Clermont.
City Halls for a Day brings many of the staff and resources of city government to a particular area of the city for one day, allowing the Mayor and city staffers to meet with local neighborhood leaders, visit local businesses, see community projects, and take part in many other activities and events.
Previous city halls for a day were held in Ben Davis/Chapel Hill, Traders Point, Franklin Township, Decatur Township, Martindale-Brightwood, Broad Ripple, Haughville, Garfield Park, Riverside/Near Northwest, Near Eastside, Oaklandon and Far Eastside.

“The days I get to spend in a particular neighborhood are among the most rewarding and helpful in this job,” Peterson said. “I have discovered so many hidden jewels and potential resources, met so many interesting people and heard new ideas. I develop a whole new appreciation for this city and its people every time we are out here.”
One of the visits included in the day’s activities includes a tour of O’Reilly Raceway Park (ORP).
It is home to the NHRA Mac Tools U. S. Nationals, the world’s largest and most prestigious drag race, two NASCAR races and over 200 days of racing action on three tracks. Although the ORP technically lies in Hendricks County, it has a dramatic impact on Indianapolis.
“We are honored that Mayor Peterson will be visiting O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis,” said Ron Anderson, general manager of ORP. “We hope to show him the positive impact we have on Clermont and the west side of Indianapolis.”

10:30–11:15 a.m. Visit Robey Elementary School. Where: 8700 W. 30th St.
11:20–12 p.m. Visit various Clermont businesses (Vintage & Vase, 9043 Crawfordsville Rd.; Debbie’s Den, 9045 Crawfordsville Rd.; Clermont Police Department, 9051 Crawfordsville Rd.; National City Bank, 9046 Crawfordsville Road; Statewide Mortgage/Wall Real Estate, 9020 Crawfordsville Rd.
12:15–1:45 p.m. Lunch with Clermont city council members, neighborhood leaders, business representatives, etc. Where: Crown’s Sports Bar & Grill. Where: 8758 Crawfordsville Rd.
1:50–2:30 p.m. Tour of O’Reilly Raceway Park. Where: 10267 East U.S. Highway 136
