Mayor to present Excellence in Education Award to the Center for Inquiry at IPS School #2

Indianapolis – Mayor Bart Peterson will present the Excellence in Education Award to the Center for Inquiry at IPS School #2 for their ambitious success with international education.

When: TOMORROW, Tuesday, March 27, 2007
                                          10:30 a.m.

Where: Center for Inquiry at IPS School #2, 725 N. New Jersey St.

The Center for Inquiry has received authorization by the Geneva, Switzerland-based International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) to offer the prestigious International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program for children ages 6 to 12.  IPS #2 is the only elementary school in the state to offer the program.

The IBO program, designed for students ages 6 to 12, focuses on the full growth of the developing child and encompasses their social, physical, emotional, and cultural needs in addition to academic development. A recognized leader in the field of international education, the IBO program encourages students to be active learners, well-rounded individuals, and engaged world citizens.

Since Mayor Peterson took office he has given monthly awards to a different school or person for outstanding achievements in education.
