Mayor, neighborhood leaders: Millions to be invested in intensive, grassroots revitalization initiative
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson will join residents, community leaders and funders to kick off a number of early action neighborhood projects beginning as part of the Great Indy Neighborhoods Initiatives (GINI) and recognize private sector donors who have helped raise millions of dollars to invest in community building and revitalization initiatives.
WHEN: Tomorrow - Tuesday, March 20 10:30 a.m.
WHERE: Fay Biccard Glick Neighborhood Center at Crooked Creek Family Pavillion, 2990 West 71st Street
Community leaders will be recognized and talk about the significant work already taking place in their neighborhoods and acknowledge the corporations and foundations who have made major financial commitments to support GINI.
Great Indy Neighborhoods is a partnership among the City of Indianapolis, Local Initiatives Support Corporation and the Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center. It resulted from the city's first Community Development Summit in 2004, which brought together more than 400 neighborhood leaders, business owners, residents and faith-based organizations to focus on developing a plan for building and sustaining stronger, healthier neighborhoods.
