ExactTarget to add 90 new, high-tech jobs at Indy headquarters

INDIANAPOLIS – ExactTarget, the market leader for on-demand email software and permission-based email marketing, announced today that it will expand its international headquarters in Indianapolis, bringing dozens of high-paying, high-tech jobs to Indianapolis.

The expansion will add 90 new jobs to the company’s more than 200-person work force.  ExactTarget will make a significant capital investment as it expands its current headquarters and purchases hardware and software upgrades.

“At ExactTarget, we are very fortunate to have a fast-growing business, terrific customers and dedicated partners.  While I consider our employees to be the secret of our success, we would not have been able to attain our corporate growth and industry achievement without the tremendous, unwavering support from our community and government leaders,” ExactTarget co-founder and CEO Scott Dorsey said. “ExactTarget is committed to growing jobs and technology companies throughout our region, and we look forward to a prosperous future for ExactTarget, the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana.

“ExactTarget is another great example of a homegrown, high-tech company helping to drive the ongoing surge in Indianapolis’ economy,” Mayor Bart Peterson said.  “Other cities and states long for thriving high-tech companies, like ExactTarget, and their high-paying jobs.  This significant expansion says a great deal about the commitment of this company and the pro-growth environment we have built in Indianapolis.”

The city and state worked in partnership to put together an incentive package to support the growth of ExactTarget.  The Indiana Economic Development Corporation provided up to $1.5 million in tax credits and $96,000 in training grants to bring the expansion to the state.

“ExactTarget is creating the kinds of high-tech jobs that contribute to our economic comeback. We’re glad to see the company continuing to grow and invest in Indiana,” said Governor Mitch Daniels.

The City of Indianapolis, working with the Indianapolis region’s economic development arm, The Indy Partnership, provided an 8-year tax abatement worth about $552,000 based on the company’s announced expansion plan.

Since relocating its corporate headquarters to the Guaranty Building in downtown Indianapolis in 2005, ExactTarget has grown to more than 200 employees and 5,500 customers – including Delta Faucet, Indianapolis Colts, Finish Line, The Home Depot and Scotts Miracle-Gro Company.  This year the company intends to add 50 jobs and increase those numbers by another 40 through 2009, when ExactTarget’s total employee base will reach 300.

ExactTarget has gained national recognition for its strong growth.  Last year, ExactTarget was named “one of the fastest growing technology companies in North America” when  Deloitte named its “2006 Technology Fast 500,” and Inc. Magazine listed Exact Target as the 56th fastest growing private company in the nation.
