Mayor praises DPW crews for snow removal efforts
Mayor Peterson’s statement thanking snow plow drivers
“As our city continues to dig out from the worst winter storm we have seen in several years, we need to give the dedicated men and women of the Department of Public Works all the praise and thanks for performing what many consider a thankless job.
For the past two days, they have climbed aboard city plows to work 12-hour shifts, venturing out into harsh conditions to ensure our city was never paralyzed by the snow, sleet and wind that pounded communities throughout the state.
They threw everything they had at this storm, and the result has been safe, passable thoroughfares and ongoing success with clearing secondary streets and roads that feed into major arteries.
There’s no doubt the work must continue over the next day or two to fully clean out from this winter blast. I have all the confidence in the world our heroes aboard those plows will finish the job.
Talking with them, I know they take such tremendous pride in their work. I think it’s important for us to show our pride in them.”
