City continues public outreach campaign with release of final episode of merger video
Indianapolis – Thousands of neighborhood residents and community leaders today will receive an e-mail linking them to the final episode of the city’s police merger video series, “Building a 21st Century Police Department.” The six-episode video magazine is part of an extensive public outreach effort launched last December by Mayor Bart Peterson and Sheriff Frank Anderson aimed at informing residents and businesses about the enhancements brought about by the police merger.
The last episode of the video series -- made available by visiting the merger website, policemerger.indygov.org. -- focuses on the completion of the merger and how residents can stay informed about news related to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Residents can easily sign up at policemerger.indygov.org to receive the videos. They also will have the capability to forward on the video links to friends and neighbors. For those who just wish to view the video updates, they are easily accessible on the homepage of policemerger.indygov.org.
Neighborhood policing topics covered in the six-part series include:
- background and events leading to the merger; - the enhancements in community policing; - identifying officers (with the new cars and uniforms); - the new beats and districts; and - the role of new community relations officers
Residents without Internet access can utilize the new merger information hotline, 327-MERGE, to get responses to any unanswered questions.
