INDIANAPOLIS – Mayor Bart Peterson will join hundreds of volunteers, along with the nation’s top official on homelessness issues, at the Indiana Convention Center for the second Indy Homeless Connect, an all day event focused on care and outreach for those experiencing homelessness.
The following is a schedule of the Mayor’s activities at Indy Homeless Connect. The entire event takes place Monday, February 12 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. in Hall A of the Indiana Convention Center (enter near the corner of West St. and Maryland).
8:30 a.m. Mayor Peterson and Philip Mangano, Executive Director of the U. S. Interagency Council on Homelessness, will address Indy Homeless Connect volunteers.

10 a.m. Mayor helps serve food to clients.
All those attending Indy Homeless Connect will have access to a wide variety of core services and essential items free of charge, including medical care, food, vision care, legal advice, winter clothing and housing assistance. Non-essential, add-on services, like free phone calls to family, books, haircuts, youth activities and others, also will be available.
Event organizers expect to serve nearly 1000 homeless clients at the event.
The goals of Indy Homeless Connect are to connect the homeless with key services, increase awareness of the local homelessness issue, and engage the community at-large in a fight to end and prevent homelessness.
