Mayor declares ‘Go Blue Weekend’ to get city fired up for Colts’ game against Patriots
Indianapolis – Mayor Bart Peterson today declared this coming weekend as “Go Blue Weekend” in Indianapolis and encouraged the whole city to wear Indianapolis Colts colors, T-shirts and jerseys to root on the Colts’ during this Sunday’s game against the visiting New England Patriots.
“The players and coaches always tell us that they can see and feel the support of our community everywhere they go, and now is the time to turn it up a notch,” Mayor Peterson said. “Plus with the entire football nation watching Indianapolis this weekend, we will show the rest of the country that we have the best team, best fans and best city in America!”
During “Go Blue Weekend,” the Mayor is encouraging Indianapolis residents and employees to:
- Wear Colts colors on Friday and throughout the weekend. City employees will be allowed to dress casually Friday to wear Colts colors;
- Fly Colts flags and banners in their homes and offices; and
- Hold Colts parties and get-togethers to watch Sunday’s game with fellow fans.
Local businesses also can get in the spirit by:
- Encouraging employees to wear Colts colors throughout the weekend;
- Hanging Colts posters, flags and banners in storefronts; and
- Spelling out “Go Colts” on their outdoor signs.
