Mayor Bart Peterson's statement on the passing of former Indianapolis Mayor Charles Boswell
"Charlie Boswell was a friend, mentor and inspiration to me and so many other generations of Indianapolis leaders. During my time in office, and even before, I had many chances to visit with him and learn from his experiences leading our city during pivotal times in our history.
"From his leadership in the armed services, to his many positions in Indianapolis and Marion County government, to his work for the federal government, Mayor Boswell was one of those indispensable links in Indianapolis history that made our city what it is today.
Today, we mourn the loss of a tremendous public servant. We all owe Mayor Boswell a debt of gratitude for his tireless work on behalf of the people of our great city."
