Mayor to host next “City Hall for a Day” in the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood

INDIANAPOLIS – Mayor Bart Peterson and members of his administration will host the ninth “City Hall for a Day” Thursday in the Martindale Brightwood neighborhood.

WHEN:   Thursday, September 14

The boundaries for the area to be included in “City Hall for a Day” activities are Massachusetts Ave. (south), the Monon Trail (west), Sherman Dr. (east) and 34th St., from the Monon to Keystone, and 30th St., Keystone to Sherman streets (north).

"City Hall for a Day" brings many of the staff and resources of city government to a particular area of the city for one day, allowing the Mayor and city staffers to meet with local neighborhood leaders, visit local businesses, see community projects and activities, and take part in many other activities and events.

As a part of the "City Hall for a Day" and the Mayor's summer crime prevention strategy, city crews will launch a series of neighborhood blitzes in Martindale-Brightwood.  City crews flood the area to cut high weeds, pick up trash and debris along streets and alleys, fill potholes, pick up stray animals, remove illegal signs and fix broken signs and lights.

City crews were working in the northwest corner of Martindale-Brightwood on August 30, and future blitzes and cleanups are scheduled for:

  • Thursday, September 14 – city crews (southwest corner)
  • Thursday, September 21 (southeast corner)
