City continues stepped-up crime fighting efforts
INDIANAPOLIS – Mayor Bart Peterson and city officials tomorrow will participate in several crime prevention efforts:
WHEN: Tomorrow – Tuesday, August 29
- 8:00 a.m. Crews from the city’s Department of Public Works, Animal Care and
Control, the Indianapolis Police Department, Department of Metropolitan Development and the Marion County Health Department will be out in force in the Haughville neighborhood on the city’s near-west side as the city’s targeted neighborhood clean-up and improvement efforts continue. Attacking neighborhood blight in areas facing challenges with crime is a key component of the plan announced in June by Mayor Peterson and Sheriff Anderson to combat criminal activity. Where: Haughville Library, 2121 W. Michigan St. (bounded by 12th St. on the north, Michigan St. on the south, Tibbs Ave. on the west, and Haugh St./Windfield Ave. on the east.)
- 10:00 a.m. Mayor Peterson, along with Public Safety Director Earl Morgan and
Heather Gallagher, Director of Companion Animal Programs, Humane Society of Indianapolis, will kick-off the city’s latest effort to crack down on dog fighting as part of the Canine Crimestoppers initiative. Where: Gustafson Park, 3110 Moller Rd.
- 6:30 p.m. Mayor Bart Peterson, Sheriff Frank Anderson, Public Safety Director Earl S. Morgan Sr., and Chief of Police Michael Spears will hold an open forum and panel on CrimeWatch/Crime Prevention. Where: Public Assembly Room of the City County Building, 200 E. Washington St.
