Mayor, IPD, Sheriff to outline plans to keep kids safe as school year begins
Police plan increased presence at bus stops, schools and street crossing locations
Indianapolis- Please join Mayor Bart Peterson, Superintendent of Public Schools Eugene White, Director of Public Safety Earl Morgan, Chief of Police Michael Spears, Sheriff Frank Anderson and IPS Police Chief Steve Garner, as they outline the city’s coordinated efforts to keep students safe during the 2006-07 school year.
When: Friday, August 18 9:15 a.m.
Where: IPS School 14, 1250 E. Market
IPD will outline their school safety plan, which will include:
- Increased patrols around schools;
- Stepped-up enforcement of speed limits in school zones; and
- Increased outreach to schools by IPD neighborhood resource officers.
The Mayor also will outline steps the city is taking to keep young people safe after school hours and on weekends.
