Mayor to host next "City Hall for a Day" In Franklin Township
INDIANAPOLIS – Mayor Bart Peterson and members of his administration will host the eighth "City Hall for a Day" tomorrow in Franklin Township.
WHEN: TOMORROW – Wednesday, August 9
The boundaries for the area to be included in "City Hall for a Day" activities are Troy Avenue (north), County Line Road (south), Carroll Road (east), and Emerson (west).
"City Hall for a Day" brings many of the staff and resources of city government to a particular area of the city for one day, allowing the Mayor and city staffers to meet with local neighborhood leaders, visit local businesses, see community projects and activities, and take part in many other activities and events.
City employees will be out in force providing information to residents and businesses regarding how they can reach a variety of city government entities and how city government can help them with everything from high grass to zoning changes. They will also be listening to their ideas and concerns regarding Franklin Township and the City of Indianapolis.
Franklin Township "City Hall for a Day" schedule:
9 a.m. Assistant Deputy Mayor Eugene Anderson & Community Economic Development Administrator Margaret Lawrence Banning and will visit businesses at Emerson Commons, including Miller Maid Cabinets and Goodwill.
10–10:45 a.m. Community Development Director Andy Fraizer will meet with Franklin Road Library Manager Jill Wetnight to discuss community development and other issues.
10 a.m. Department of Administration Human Resources Director Collin Kebo will visit businesses at Thompson and Emerson.
10:30 a.m. Mayor Peterson will announce an incentive package to encourage business development in Franklin Township. Where: Mays Chemical, 7427 Company Dr.
11 a.m. Deputy Mayor Ellen Quigley will meet with new Franklin Township School Superintendent Dr. Walter Bourke.
11 a.m. Community Development Director Andy Fraizer will meet with Franklin Township Historical Society Director Sylvia Hendricks to discuss community development and other issues.
11 a.m. Faith Based Initiatives Coordinator Marquisha Bridgeman will visit churches in Franklin Township.
11 a.m.–12 p.m. Mayor Peterson, Administration Director Sherlonda Anderson and Franklin Township business and neighborhood leaders will conduct a bus tour of possible sites for economic development in the area.
11:30 a.m. Deputy Mayor Steve Campbell will meet with a representative of Feather Trace Subdivision to discuss homeowners association issues.
12 p.m. Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services Administrator Kevin Sifferlen will visit businesses at Commerce Square on Emerson Ave.
12 – 2 p.m. Marion County Emergency Management will hand out information regarding emergency preparedness. Where: K-Mart, 5101 E. Thompson Rd.
12 – 2 p.m. Indianapolis Animal Care & Control (IACC) staff will have handouts and information on spaying and neutering, microchipping, pet laws, dog fighting, and adopting pets. Where: K-Mart, 5101 E. Thompson Rd.
12:15–1:30 p.m. Mayor Peterson will have lunch with Lions Club and VFW Post 6788 members, as well as neighborhood leaders and others to discuss ideas, concerns and other issues affecting Franklin Township.
1 p.m. Bond Bank Director Barbara Lawrence and Council & Legislative Relations Director Garland Graves will visit businesses at Victory and Independence, including Joachim Machinery and Dataflow. 1 p.m. IACC Director Leslie Fatum will visit businesses at the Southpoint Professional Center, including the Stop 11 Animal Hospital.
1 p.m. Department of Metropolitan Development Director Maury Plambeck and Department of Administration Director Sherlonda Anderson will visit businesses at the Industrial Park at Hwy. 65 and Southport Road
1:40–1:50 p.m. Monica Whitfield Brase of the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services will stop in at MyART Studio and Art Center to visit this interesting member of the Wanamaker business community. Where: 8826 Southeastern Ave.
1:45 p.m. Deputy Mayor Steve Campbell will meet with a representative of Ashland Subdivision to discuss homeowners association issues.
2 p.m. Special Assistant Terri Downs will tour the Buck Creek Theatre.
2:30 p.m. Deputy Chief of Staff Andy Klineman will visit Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home and other businesses on Thompson Rd.
3 p.m. Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee Deputy Director Michael Carter will visit businesses at Emerson Place Shops.
9 a.m.–5 p.m. Department of Public Works staff will be spend the day trimming trees that are obstructing signs, repairing sidewalks, filling cracks and potholes in streets, cleaning trash and debris from creeks, and addressing other public works needs.
TBD Department of Metropolitan Development staff will conduct a sign sweep. This will likely take place on Saturday or Sunday, as weekends are generally when most violations occur.
TBD Special Assistant Terri Downs will visit the Rosegate Senior Community.
TBD Special Assistant Chris Radford will visit the Marion County Fairgrounds
TBD Economic Development Director Jim Garrard and DMD Administrator Mike Peoni will visit businesses at Victory and Independence
