INDIANAPOLIS –Mayor Bart Peterson will present the Character Achievement Award to the National Junior Tennis League (NJTL) of Indianapolis for providing tennis and life-skills instruction for children of all racial, economic and social backgrounds. Where: Mayor’s Conference Room, City County Building 200 E. Washington St.
Founded by tennis great Arthur Ashe in 1969, the NJTL program is currently offered at twenty-two Indy Parks and Recreation facilities. The program is available to city youth ages 7 to 18, provided at a low cost for eight weeks of instruction, plus the opportunity to participate in competitive matches each Friday. Additionally, NTJL of Indianapolis offers indoor winter tennis instruction from October through March at various locations.
Participants are also encouraged to participate, free of charge, in the national Arthur Ashe Essay Contest and a field trip to the RCA Championships’ Kids Day.
