Community continues events aimed at curbing crime, violence and promoting peace
Events include faith walk tonight, and youth rally for peace next week
INDIANAPOLIS – Community and faith-based leaders have scheduled a number of events this month to encourage community unity, promote peace and engage residents to stand against violence and crime in local neighborhoods.
- Community Faith Walks in July
Hosted by: Ten Point Coalition (Volunteers will walk with faith-based leaders in areas facing challenges with crime to provide a positive presence in neighborhoods. The walks are open to adults. Persons with disabilities or those not able to walk can participate in prayer services held on site at the staging area throughout the event.) -Friday, July 21 Pathway Missionary Baptist Church 7:30 p.m. 3017 Shriver Avenue
-Friday, July 28 Mt. Zion Baptist Church 7:30 p.m. 3500 Graceland Avenue
- Youth Rally for Peace
Hosted by: Christamore House
When: Tuesday, July 18th 1 – 3:00 p.m.
Where: Downtown on Monument Circle
Youth are encouraged to participate in the rally to promote Peace in the Streets. The rally will feature DJ Blaze, poetry reading, singing, youth rappers and dance performances. There will also be giveaways, armbands and t-shirts.
