Mayor to join community members, religious leaders and IPD in 'Peace Walk'
INDIANAPOLIS – Mayor Bart Peterson will join community members, religious leaders and officers of the Indianapolis Police Department in a "Peace Walk" to show the importance of community unity and involvement in the fight against violent crime in local neighborhoods.
There will also be a neighborhood resource meeting prior to the walk to provide information to residents about the role they can play to help prevent crime.
When: TODAY, June 1
6 p.m. – Neighborhood resource meeting begins
7 p.m. – Mayor and community participate in Peace Walk*
(*weather permitting)
Where: Christamore House, 502 N. Tremont
Planning for the Peace Walk began after the murder of a Westside teen in May. More community Peace Walks will take place in other neighborhoods throughout the summer.
