Mayor’s office features new artwork from local artists
INDIANAPOLIS -Mayor Bart Peterson continued his tradition of using the Mayor’s Office to showcase the work of local artists. Recently, he unveiled artwork by local artists Susan Hodgin and Rosanna Hardin Hall.
· Susan Hodgin’s inspiration for both the process and imagery of her paintings comes from the direct observation of nature. Hodgin uses many layers and mediums to create the texture and depth of what are primarily oil paintings. She makes collages with acid-free paper, by using charcoal, oil pastel, permanent marker, acrylic paint, and finally oil paint.
Hodgin received her bachelor’s degree in painting from the University of Montana. She teaches part-time at the Indianapolis Art Center and at her studio in the Wheeler Arts Building in Fountain Square. Her artwork can be viewed at www.susanhadgin.com.
· Rosanna Hardin Hall is a plein air oil painter who encourages viewers to share the mystery of forms in great gardens of the world. She paints outdoors in order to capture sunlight and long shadows at play across graceful statues, splashing fountains, and shapely hedges.
Hall received a master’s degree in fine arts from the University of Hawaii and a bachelor’s degree from the Herron School of Art & Design in Indianapolis. Her artwork can be viewed at Hoosier Salon Gallery and Villa Dell’ Artista.
Since 2001, the Mayor has used his office to display original artwork form local artists, courtesy of the Arts Council of Indianapolis. Enhancing the arts and culture in Indianapolis is one of Mayor Peterson’s key priorities.
Local artists previously showcased by Mayor Peterson include photographers Debra & Darlene Delbecq; Susan Peters; William A. Rasdell and Greg Whitaker; visual artist Walter Knabe; painters William C.J., Becky Hall Fehsenfeld, Lois Main Templeton, Carl Graf, Wayman Adams, T.C.
