Mayor to host fifth “City Hall for a Day” in Haughville neighborhood TODAY
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson and members of his administration will host the fifth “City Hall for a Day” Thursday in the Haughville neighborhood.
Previous “City Halls for a Day” were held in Broad Ripple Village, the Near East Side Community Organization (NESCO) area, Garfield Park and Traders Point.
The Mayor’s “City Hall for a Day” brings many of the staff and resources of city government to a particular area of the city for one day, allowing the Mayor and city staffers to meet with local neighborhood leaders, visit local businesses, see community projects, and take part in many other activities and events.
WHEN: TODAY, Thursday, May 18 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Haughville "City Hall for a Day" schedule
8 a.m. Deputy Mayor Steve Campbell will meet with Jeff Golc, representative of Piran, Slovenia (Sister City with Indy) and resident of an established Slovenian community located on near westside, to discuss the Weed & Seed program and crime in Haughville.
8 a.m. - 6 p.m. The Indianapolis Police Department will have the Mobile Community Outreach Police Station van in the parking lot of the Haughville Public Library. Roll calls will be held there throughout the day and into the evening. Where: 2121 W. Michigan St.
9 a.m. City inspectors will conduct a code sweep targeting right of way obstructions and abandoned and inoperable vehicles. Where: the sweep will encompass Holmes, King, Belleview, Tremont, Pershing, and Sheffield, all between Michigan Ave. and 10th St. as time permits.
9 a.m. Animal Care and Control will conduct a stray animal sweep in various neighborhoods
10-10:30 a.m. Mayor Peterson will kick off City Hall for a Day at KIPP Charter School, 3125 Concord Ct.
10:55-11:20 a.m. Mayor Peterson will tour and visit Hawthorne Community Center, 2440 W. Ohio St.

Haughville City Hall for a Day p.2
11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) will have smoke detectors available to give away to the public. Where: IFD Station #1, 1903 W. 10th St., and Christamore House, 502 N. Tremont St.
11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Mayor Peterson will have lunch with neighborhood leaders. Where: Christamore House, 502 N. Tremont St.
1 - 1:30 p.m. Deputy Mayor Ellen Quigley will visit the Christamore Court Senior Family Project.
1 - 2 p.m. Indy Parks will locate its Environmental Trailer and give out summer fun guides at the George Washington School, 2215 W. Washington St., at the entrance of the school parking lot on the East side of the building.
1 - 3 p.m. Indianapolis Animal Care & Control will provide microchipping for only $10 per pet at the George Washington School, 2215 W. Washington St., outdoors on the lawn of the school.
1:05 - 1:45 p.m. Mayor Peterson will conduct a bus tour of the neighborhood with officials from IPD, Department of Public Works, Department of Metropolitan Development and neighborhood leaders. The tour will combine public safety issues, development, improvements, needs, etc.
2:00 - 2:30 p.m. Mayor Peterson will visit Latino-owned businesses with Latino Affairs Director Ricardo Gambetta and Department of Administration Director Earl Morgan
2 - 6 p.m. Mobile Mayor’s Action Center - Citizens can stop in to report a problem or request a city service and meet face to face with customer service representatives. Laptops will be on hand so requests can be submitted instantly. Where: Haughville Public Library, 2121 W. Michigan St.
