Attorney General Carter and Mayor Peterson to outline new law to crack down on mortgage foreclosure scams
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson and Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter will outline the enforcement of a new state law that cracks down on mortgage foreclosure scams and provides homeowners with more protections.
When: TOMORROW, Wednesday, April 19
10 a.m.
Where: Attorney General’s Office, Statehouse (room 219)
Foreclosure prevention scams involve heavily promoted deals ("We buy houses") supposedly designed to save the homes of people facing foreclosure or those who’ve fallen behind on their mortgage payments.
Unfortunately, this "help" usually either drains off any equity reserve or leaves the "rescuer" owning the house outright and the family evicted from their home.
