Progess made on securing damaged portions of One Indiana Square; Delaware to open to traffic
INDIANAPOLIS - Delaware Street will be open to vehicular traffic effective immediately thanks to the around-the-clock work by engineers to secure the curtainwall and remove debris from One Indiana Square.
A perimeter was established around the storm-damaged One Indiana Square to protect the public from falling debris. Engineers now say they have "eliminated" any danger to cars on Delaware Street.
Delaware will be open for this evening’s rush hour and remain open as long as there is no further threat of falling materials from the building. Also, Massachusetts Avenue between Delaware and Alabama is now open to traffic.
Other street restrictions will remain in place indefinitely to protect the public. They include:
· Pennsylvania St. being closed from Michigan St. to Market St.
· There will be no eastbound travel on New York St. or Ohio St. from Meridian St.
Additionally, there will still be no pedestrian traffic allowed within the perimeter surrounding the building:
· New York St. - North boundary
· Ohio St. - South boundary
· Delaware - East boundary
· Pennsylvania St. - West boundary
