Mayor names members to Commission on Latino Affairs
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson today announced the appointment of new members to the Mayor’s Commission on Latino Affairs, the panel whose goal is to find ways to increase Latino involvement in city government and make city services more accessible to all Indianapolis residents.
The commission was one of the "Peterson Plan" initiatives the Mayor promised in 1999. In the plan, he stressed the need to open city government to Latinos and to all residents of the Indianapolis community.
The Mayor reappointed Maria Quiroz-Southwood, Consultant, Wishard Health Services, and Karen Celestino Horseman, attorney, as co-chairs of the commission. Ricardo Gambetta, the mayor’s director of Latino Affairs, serves as executive director.
