Mayor Peterson’s statement on the passing of President Gerald Ford
‘Today, our country mourns the loss of one of its great leaders. President Ford ascended to the presidency through unprecedented circumstances. But he proved equal to the task, becoming one of the bright lights that led our nation, during one of its most challenging times, with kindness, integrity and statesmanship.
President Ford always will be known for his long, distinguished career in public service and his work to unite our country during a very difficult period. I join with all Americans today in saluting and remembering him. He will be missed.”
