Community Crime Prevention Task Force to meet with faith leaders tonight
INDIANAPOLIS – The Community Crime Prevention Task Force, organized by the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee, is meeting with faith leaders today.
WHEN: TODAY– Thursday, November 9 6 p.m.
WHERE: Christian Theological Seminary 1000 W. 42nd St.
The Community Crime Prevention Task Force has invited all faith leaders and faith-based organizations to participate in the meeting that will focus on gathering information and listening to ideas from the faith community to reduce and prevent crime in Indianapolis. The Task Force has been charged with examining the underlying causes of violence and crime.
“The Task Force is eager to hear about the ongoing outreach and service work of the faith community, which has helped our city meet some critical challenges,” said Bill Shrewsberry, Community Crime Prevention Task Force co-chair.
The Task Force’s work stems from an emergency meeting of criminal justice officials convened in August by Mayor Bart Peterson. At that meeting, Council President Monroe Gray recommended the creation of the Community Crime Prevention Task Force to look into the root causes of crime and violence.
