Mayor to host next “City Hall for a Day” in Oaklandon in northeast Marion County
Indianapolis – Mayor Bart Peterson and members of his administration will host the twelfth “City Hall for a Day” tomorrow in Oaklandon.
When: TOMORROW, Thursday, November 9
Previous city halls for a day were held in Ben Davis/Chapel Hill, Traders Point, Franklin Township, Decatur Township, Martindale-Brightwood, Broad Ripple, Haughville, Garfield Park, Riverside/Near Northwest, Near Eastside and Far Eastside.
“The days I get to spend almost an entire day in a particular neighborhood are among the most rewarding and helpful in this job,” Mayor Peterson said. “I have discovered so many hidden jewels and potential resources, met a ton of interesting people, and heard new ideas. It’s helped me in this job more than I can tell you and I develop a whole new appreciation for this city and its people every time I do one.”
"City Hall for a Day" brings many of the staff and resources of city government to a particular area of the city for one day, allowing the Mayor and city staffers to meet with local neighborhood leaders, visit local businesses, see community projects and activities, and take part in many other activities and events.
City Hall for a Day schedule:
9 a.m. Economic Development Director Jim Garrard and Controller Bob Clifford will visit the Greg Clark State Farm Insurance office.
9:15 a.m. Public Safety Director Earl Morgan and Public Safety Advisor Jerry McCory will visit Edward Jones.
9:30 a.m. Economic Development Director Jim Garrard and Controller Bob Clifford will visit Jim Industrial Water Consulting.
10 a.m. Economic Development Director Jim Garrard and Controller Bob Clifford will visit Godward Glass Studio.
10:30-11:15 a.m. Mayor Peterson will visit third and fifth-grade classrooms at Amy Beverland School. Where: 11650 Fox Rd.
10:30 a.m. Deputy Mayor Steve Campbell and Bond Bank Director Barbara Lawrence will visit the National City Bank at 11720 Fox Rd.
10:30 a.m. Department of Metropolitan Development (DMD) Planning Director Mike Peoni and Mayor’s Diversity Affairs Director Robin Shackleford will visit the Crystal Flash.
11 a.m. Deputy Mayor Ellen Quigley, Council Relations Director Garland Graves and Deputy Chief of Staff Andy Klineman will visit the Play House.
11 a.m. Deputy Mayor Steve Campbell and Bond Bank Director Barbara Lawrence will visit American Family Insurance.
11 a.m. DMD Division of Planning Director Mike Peoni and Diversity Affairs Director Robin Shackleford will visit the Subway.
11:20 a.m. Deputy Mayor Campbell and Bond Bank Director Lawrence will visit Renatas Alterations.
11:30 a.m. Deputy Mayor Quigley, Council Relations Director Garland Graves and Deputy Chief of Staff Andy Klineman will visit Elena's Salon & Spa.
11:30 a.m. DMD Division of Planning Director Mike Peoni and Mayor’s Diversity Affairs Director Robin Shackleford will visit Pizza on Call.
11:30–11:50 a.m. Mayor Peterson will visit Watsons. Where: 11801 Pendelton Pike.
12–1 p.m. Mayor Peterson will have lunch with seniors and staff at Westminster Village North retirement village. Where: 11050 Presbyterian Dr.
1:05 – 1:25 p.m. Mayor Peterson will Tour Westminster Village North. Where: 11050 Presbyterian Dr.
1:30 p.m. Animal Care & Control Director Leslie Fatum and Human Resources Director Collin Kebo will visit Doggie Design.
1:30–2:30 p.m. Mayor Peterson will take a bus tour of the Oaklandon area with neighborhood leaders, Lawrence Mayor Deborah Cantwell, City County Councillor Sherron Franklin and others. The tour will include a stop at the Geist Water Treatment Plant, including the surrounding greenway under construction.
1:30 p.m. Community Development Director Andy Frazier and Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee (GIPC) Deputy Director Michael Carter will visit the Learning Time Preschool.
2 p.m. Animal Care & Control Director Leslie Fatum and Human Resources Director Collin Kebo will visit Oaklandon Animal Clinic.
2 p.m. Department of Administration Director Sherlonda Anderson and MBE/WBE Director Jonathan Carpenter will visit J.E. Holman Family Dentistry.
