Mayor Peterson, Lt. Governor to kick-off largest convention in city’s history tomorrow
Indianapolis – Mayor Bart Peterson will join Lt. Governor Becky Skillman, National FFA President Travis Jett and convention officials to kick-off the 79th National FFA Convention -- the largest convention ever hosted by the City of Indianapolis.
When: Tuesday – October 24 11 a.m.
Where: Indiana Convention Center (2nd Floor, immediately east of the Sagamore Ballroom)
The FFA convention will bring up to 55,000 people to Indianapolis, including some of the nation’s brightest young people, as well as their advisors and corporate leaders. The convention is expected to generate more than $30 million in direct visitor spending.
The National FFA Organization is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
The National FFA was organized as the "Future Farmers of America" in 1928 in Kansas City, Mo. In 1988, the official organization name was changed to The National FFA Organization to reflect the broadening field of agriculture, which today encompasses more than 300 careers in everything from agriscience to biotechnology.
