City to host the 2006 International Book Festival
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson, in conjunction with the Mayor’s Commission on Latino Affairs, will host the 2006 International Book Festival.
WHEN: Friday, October 13 & Saturday October 14 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (both days) Free Admission
WHERE: Artsgarden at Circle Center Mall
The International Book Festival promotes literacy and the literary arts, showcases the city as a center of International understanding and exchange.
More than 12 well-known International writers and publishers from Latin America, Spain and the USA will be attending the book festival; including Isabella Santo Domingo, a Colombian actress, TV anchor, and author; Jorge Argueta, a poet, author and winner of the Americas Award for Latin American Literature from El Salvador; and Esperanza Zendejas, a Mexican author.
“The International Book Festival showcases Indianapolis’ exceptional diversity and promotes the many opportunities the city has to offer international visitors and events,” said Mayor Peterson. “With a culmination of cultural and educational activities, this event celebrates the community’s public appreciation of global literature, education, and arts.”
The Mayor’s Commission on Latino Affairs, the event organizer, is the city’s first-ever panel that concentrates on assisting Latinos. Since taking office, Peterson has made reaching out to the to the Latino community a priority.
