Mayor, City to sponsor Habitat for Humanity home Kick-off with community partners tomorrow
What: Mayor Bart Peterson will kick-off for the Habitat for Humanity Panel Day at the City Market on a house sponsored by the Mayor and the City of Indianapolis.
The City formed a partnership with the Indiana Pacers, Marion County Health & Hospital Corporation, Arsenal Tech High School, United Water, LP Products, the Indiana Union Construction Industry and the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership to build this house. Tomorrow, the Mayor and other partners will construct wall panels (exterior and interior) on Market Street for the home.
Where: City Market – between Delaware and Alabama Streets on Market St.
When: 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Tuesday, October 10th Mayor Peterson will be present from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m.
Background: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Indianapolis is committed to eliminating poverty housing and making home ownership available to very low-income families, most of whom have children and live in unsafe or substandard conditions. Each qualified low-income family must meet Habitat’s income and credit history criteria, as well as agree to invest 250 work equity hours and assist with the building of their own home along with helping with other Habitat homes.
