Mayor to join business leaders in raising money and awareness for helping those in housing crisis
AAR Aircraft Services hosts first-ever private fundraiser for Housing Trust Fund; proceeds will help create more affordable housing opportunities
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson will join representatives of AAR Aircraft Services and dozens of business and community leaders to help raise money for Indianapolis’ Housing Trust Fund, supporting efforts to create more housing opportunities for low income residents and those in housing crisis.
AAR will host the fundraising reception, marking the first-time a private company has initiated an event specifically dedicated to raising proceeds for the Housing Trust Fund.
When: Today (Thursday), Jan. 19 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Where: AAR Aircraft Services, Indianapolis Maintenance Center 2825 W. Perimeter Road
In November 2005, Mayor Peterson launched Indy Homeless Connect, an initiative designed, in part, to increase corporate sector participation in the city’s fight to end homelessness. As part of this effort, AAR Aircraft Services and Creations Title Agency, LLC, (a joint venture between Oak Street Mortgage and Nations Holding Company) stepped up to donate a total of $75,000 to the Housing Trust Fund. In addition, AAR committed to hosting today’s fundraising event and seeking contributions from other corporations and entities within the private sector.
Last Fall, the city made its first grant awards from the Housing Trust Fund. A total of $300,000 was awarded to three organizations to support initiatives assisting more than 100 families either experiencing homelessness or in housing crisis. The trust fund grants were matched by $750,000 from The Indianapolis Foundation, an affiliate of the Central Indiana Community Foundation.
