Mayor, Colts to dye canal blue to gear up for NFL playoff run
Mayor calls on Colts’ fans attending Sunday’s game to ‘blow the roof’ off of Dome with deafening cheers
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson and Indianapolis Colts Vice-President Tom Zupancic will dye the water of the Downtown Canal Colts’ Blue to get the city fired up for the team’s 2006 NFL playoff run.
WHEN: TODAY - Wednesday, January 11
11 a.m.
WHERE: Ohio Street Basin along the Canal Walk (just south of the IFD fire station at Ohio and West Streets)
Earlier this week the Mayor declared this Friday "Blue Friday" to get the city fired up for the Colts’ home playoff game this weekend. The AFC South Division champion Colts will take on the evil Pittsburgh Steelers in front of a national TV audience this Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Mayor also called on Colts fans attending Sunday’s game to cheer even louder than their usual "deafening level" when the Steelers’ offense is on the field. A Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article from yesterday continued to charge that the Colts are pumping in artificial crowd noise at the RCA Dome during games.
"Pittsburgh just doesn’t realize that we have the loudest 12th man in the NFL," Peterson said.
