Mayor to declare ‘Blue Friday’ to get city fired up for Colts’ playoff game
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson will declare this coming Friday as "Blue Friday" and encouraged all of Indianapolis to wear Indianapolis Colts colors, T-shirts and jerseys in anticipation of the Colts’ Sunday playoff game against the evil, evil Pittsburgh Steelers.
"This year’s Indianapolis Colts are clearly one of the best teams to ever play the game," Peterson said. "The road to the Super Bowl starts this weekend, and that road goes through Indianapolis. All of Indianapolis must make sure this team feels our support everywhere they go in this city this week."
On "Blue Friday," the Mayor is encouraging Indianapolis residents and employees to:
• Wear Colts colors on Friday and throughout the weekend. City employees can dress casually Friday to wear Colts colors;
• Fly Colts flags and banners in their homes and offices this week; and
• Hold Colts parties and get-togethers to watch Sunday’s game with fellow fans.
Local businesses also can get in the spirit by:
• Encouraging employees to wear Colts colors throughout the weekend;
• Hanging Colts posters and banners in storefronts;
• Spelling out "Go Colts" on their outdoor signs; and
• Flying Colts flags and banners.
