Mayor, Mrs. Peterson to honor volunteers
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson and First Lady Amy Minick Peterson will honor recipients of the 2005 Mayor’s Community Service Awards at a ceremony on Wednesday.

The Mayor’s Community Service Awards have been created to annually recognize Indianapolis citizens for their contributions and commitments to community service.
A new feature this year will be a piano performance by Spencer Myer, a doctoral student at Stony Brook University who is competiting as a 2006 finalist in the American Pianists Association’s Classical Fellowship Awards. The concert is a gift to the Community Service Award recipients from the American Pianists Association. The Classical Fellowship Awards competition is held every three years in Indianapolis. Myer will be performing again on September 25 at the Indiana History Center at 3:30 p.m. as part of the Premiere Series concerts, which are a part of the competition.
