Mayor to announce completion of city gateway proposals process
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson will announce the completion of the work of the Gateways Workgroup and make its report available to the public. The report will include the locations for many possible gateways as well as a "toolbox" designed to help organizations create gateway projects.
WHEN: Thursday, July 21, 2005 2 - 2:30 p.m.
WHERE: Crispus Attucks Middle School, 1140 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street, outside at the northwest corner of 11th and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street (Media can park in the fenced lot off 11th street and get to the site via the pedestrian gate.)
Last summer, Mayor Peterson, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Indianapolis, kicked off an effort to distinguish Indianapolis by highlighting locations that could serve as "gateways" to major points of entry for the city, its neighborhoods and key destinations. A gateway is considered to be a landmark, streetscape or other area that a visitor or resident first sees when entering the city, a neighborhood, a cultural district, or other attractions or destinations.
