“Walk a hound, lose a pound”
Mayor to walk dogs from Animal Care and Control facility
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson and Indianapolis Animal Care and Control (IACC) staff and volunteers will walk dogs from the IACC facility this weekend. The Mayor will also accept a donation on behalf of the Friends of IACC Foundation (FIACCF) and present an outstanding service award to the group making the donation.
WHEN: Saturday, July 9, 2005 9 a.m.
WHERE: Ellenberger Park, outside on the west side of the ice rink
The Eyes Have It, a volunteer organization, is donating $3,275 to FIACCF. The money was raised at a benefit concert for the FIACCF and the Humane Society of Indianapolis (HSI). The June concert at Broad Ripple Park featured the music of Jennie DeVoe and a silent auction and raffle. The event raised more than $6,500 and proceeds are being split between FIACCF and HSI.
This is the third summer for the "Walk a Hound" event. Walks are held on selected Saturdays over the course of the summer at NIFS/White River State Park and Indy Parks locations. ACC brings 10 to 12 dogs to each event for volunteers to walk. For a schedule of walks, log on to www.indygov.org/accd. For more information about the FIACCF, log on to www.friendsofindyacc.org.
