Mayor Peterson to participate in James Dean Fest, Spyder tour
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson will greet a replica 550 Porsche Spyder, the last car driven by James Dean before his untimely death, at the City Market tomorrow. The car is the main attraction in the "Spyder on the Road" Tour, a cross-country road trip from Los Angeles, CA to Marion, IN.

The Spyder and its drivers are stopping in major cities across the United States to greet Spyder fans and Dean enthusiasts. The Tour is part of the promotional effort for the James Dean Fest in Marion, IN from June 3 - 5.
Driven by Robb Greenberg and Andrew Garver, the car began in Los Angeles, CA at Dean's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and continued on to Las Vegas, Phoenix, and El Paso before stopping in Marfa, TX, the location for the filming of the movie, "Giant."
The Spyder has also made stops in Dallas, Oklahoma City, Kansas City, and St. Louis. In Indianapolis it will stop at Monument Circle today from 4-6 p.m. and will run on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Saturday afternoon. At the track, the car will be joined by Marion Mayor Wayne Seybold.
Following its stop in Indianapolis, the Spyder will continue to promote the James Dean Fest with appearances in Chicago before traveling to Marion, IN on June 3 for the start of the James Dean Fest. On each day of the Spyder's journey, raw footage will be recorded and uploaded to the Fest website (www.jamesdeanfest.com) so fans can keep up with the trip.
Tickets to the James Dean Fest are being sold at Marsh Supermarkets through Ticketmaster or at www.jamesdeanfest.com.
