Mayor, Wal-Mart to announce new SuperCenter for Lafayette Square area
New development will bring 450 jobs
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson and Wal-Mart executives, joined by neighborhood and area business leaders, will announce plans for a new Wal-Mart SuperCenter in the Lafayette Square area.
WHEN: Today, Monday, December 19 1 p.m.
WHERE: National City Bank lobby 3711 Georgetown Rd. (Near Lafayette and Georgetown)
This is another positive step for the Lafayette Square area. For instance, at the request of the Mayor, the City-County Council designated the Lafayette Square area as Indianapolis’ only Community Revitalization and Enhancement District, known as a "CRED," in 2004. This designation stimulates growth and investment in the district by providing state tax credits for certain business investment.
Mayor Peterson has also taken other steps to improve this area, including making infrastructure improvements along Lafayette Road, 38th Street and Georgetown Road.
