Saint Christopher Center to Renovate Historic Fall Creek Building
INDIANAPOLIS, IN. - The Saint Christopher Center, Inc., an early childhood education program serving children ages six weeks to five years, will announce its plans to renovate the Paul C. Stetson School #76 to create a preschool and primary education facility in the Mapleton Fall Creek community. The announcement will take place today, Wednesday, December 14 at 1 p.m.
Upon completion of the renovations, scheduled for August 2006, the building will become The Saint Christopher Education Center, allowing The Center to double the number of preschool children served. By August 2006 the Saint Christopher Center with the Indianapolis Lighthouse Charter School will offer unique education opportunities for the children and families in the Mapleton Fall Creek neighborhood, serving children from 6 weeks old to the 8th grade.
Participating in the announcement will be:
- Bart Peterson, Mayor
- The Right Rev. Bishop Catherine Waynick, Episcopal Diocese
- Jo Ann M. Gora, President, Ball State University
- The Children of Saint Christopher Center
- Nedra Feeley, Board President, Saint Christopher Center, Inc.
- Betsy Combs, Executive Director, Saint Christopher Center, Inc.
- Mark Culliton, Vice President for Business Development, Lighthouse Academies
A tour of the building will follow the program and architectural drawings of the renovation project will be on display.
The Saint Christopher Center is a nonprofit cooperating ministry of the Episcopal Church founded in 2002 by Christ Church Cathedral of Indianapolis. The mission is to enhance the healthy development of homeless and near-homeless infants and preschoolers, as well as all the children it serves, so that they may achieve lifelong academic and social success.
Since 1924 the building of the former Paul C. Stetson School (IPS #76) has served the community as an educational institution and, once again, will represent a place of educational choice to its neighbors in Mapleton Fall Creek, and the city of Indianapolis.
The Saint Christopher Center is located at 703 E. 30th Street (Fall Creek Parkway/College Ave.).
