Mayor to kick-off ‘City Hall for a Day’ outreach in Broad Ripple Village
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson and members of his administration will host the first "City Hall for a Day" tomorrow in the Broad Ripple Village neighborhood.
The Mayor’s "City Hall for a Day" will bring many of the staff and resources of city government to a particular area of the city for one day, and allows the Mayor and city staffers to meet with local neighborhood leaders, visit local businesses, see first-hand community projects and activities and take part in many other activities and events.

10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Broad Ripple "City Hall for a Day" Schedule
10 a.m.
· Mayor Peterson and city department directors will kick off "City Hall for a Day" with a press conference at the Indianapolis Art Center, 820 E. 67th St.
· The Mobile Mayor’s Action Center will open in the conference room of the Art Center. Citizens can come anytime from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to report a problem or request a city service and meet face to face with customer service representatives. Laptops will be on hand so that requests can be submitted instantly. The Mobile MAC will be staffed by Kevin Sifferlen, Administrator of the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services and two MAC customer service representatives.
10:30 a.m.
· Department of Metropolitan Development (DMD) Director Maury Plambeck will depart from the Art Center and conduct a sign sweep in the Broad Ripple Village area with DMD staff.
· Beth White, Director of Constituent Services, will visit businesses along Broad Ripple Ave. between College and Guilford.
· Public Safety Advisor Jerry McCory will visit IPD North District, 4209 N. College Ave.
10:45 a.m.
· Mayor Peterson will attend a Youth Town Hall Meeting, coordinated by the Mayor’s Youth Council, at Broad Ripple High School, 1115 Broad Ripple Ave. Students from eight additional high schools around Indianapolis will also attend and participate.
· Deputy Mayor Steve Campbell will visit the Broad Ripple Park Family Center, 1550 Broad Ripple Ave., and businesses in the plaza at Broad Ripple Ave. and Compton.
11 a.m.
· Indianapolis Animal Care and Control (IACC) Director Leslie Fatum and IACC staff will bring dogs and cats from Animal Care and Control to spend time at the Broad Ripple Bark Park, 1550 Broad Ripple Ave. (In case of inclement weather, they will be in the Broad Ripple Park Family Center.)
11:45 a.m.
· Mayor Peterson will stop by local businesses along Westfield Blvd. between Winthrop and Guilford Avenues.
12 noon
· Mayor Peterson will have lunch with Broad Ripple Village neighborhood leaders and business owners at the Parthenon, 6319 Guilford Ave.
· Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) Chief Jim Greeson will have lunch with firefighters at Station 32, 6330 Guilford Ave.
1 p.m.
· IFD will host a presentation on "Fire Safety During the Heating Season" at Station 32, 6330 Guilford Avenue. Topics that will be discussed include smoke detectors, space heaters, and alternative heating appliances.
· Department of Administration Director Earl Morgan will tour Bright Ideas, a women-owned business located at 7425 Westfield Blvd. Bright Ideas is an advertising specialty company that began more than 20 years ago with a staff of one, and now employs more than 30 people.
1:15 p.m.
· Mayor Peterson will tour Department of Public Works (DPW) projects with DPW Director Jim Garrard and DPW staff. (Tour will start at Parthenon restaurant and end at the Art Center.)
1:30 p.m.
· Indianapolis Police Department (IPD) North District will conduct roll call at 6500 Cornell and will be joined by IPD Chief Michael Spears.
2 p.m.
· Mobile Mayor’s Action Center will close.
