Free family fun at sixth annual Family Strengthening Summit planned for Saturday, November 19

INDIANAPOLIS - The sixth annual Family Strengthening Summit is a community-wide event celebrating families, sharing information, and presenting helpful resources. Spanish volunteer interpreters are available all day.

WHEN: Saturday, November 19

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

WHERE: Indiana Convention Center

Everything at the Summit is free and open to the public: free admission, free lunch, free child care provided by Auntie Mame's, and free morning and afternoon snacks. Even parking is free if you bring your parking ticket to the registration desk.

New this year: Wendell Ray will host an interactive game show, Who Wants to be a Strong Family?, that is fun and informative. Audience members will be the contestants and voters; prizes include a desktop computer, family board game package and a LeapPad.

There will also be performances by the Indianapolis Children's Choir as well as more than 30 booths offering resources and activities for families to spend some fun time together. Seven roundtable discussions bring together experts and neighbors to discuss everything from healthy family communication to child abuse.

"The Family Strengthening Summit is one of the city's best events for families to have fun and learn at the same time. Participants have told me that their families have grown stronger and healthier by using the tips and information they heard at the Summit," said Mayor Bart Peterson.

Casey Foundation, The Indianapolis Foundation, City of Indianapolis, United Way of Central Indiana, Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership, Lilly Endowment, Inc., Indianapolis Private Industry Council, Clarian Health Partners, and the Capital Improvement Board.
