Mayor, community to launch new initiative to further goals of city’s Blueprint to End Homelessness
Peterson to call on citizens, businesses to join him in new outreach effort; announce first corporate donations to city’s Housing Trust Fund.
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson will join dozens of homelessness advocates, business leaders and service providers to launch a new initiative, Indy Homeless Connect, that will refocus the spotlight on the homeless issue in Indianapolis.
When: Tomorrow (Thursday), Nov. 3 10:30 a.m.
Where: Mayor’s Conference Room - 25th Floor of the City-County Building 200 E. Washington St.
Indy Homeless Connect is an outgrowth of the Blueprint to End Homelessness, the city’s ambitious plan released in 2002 to end and prevent homelessness in Indianapolis.
As part of the kick-off to Indy Homeless Connect, the Mayor will be announcing the first corporate donations to the city’s Housing Trust Fund, a fund dedicated to expanding affordable housing opportunities throughout Indianapolis.
The Mayor will also be joined by Robert Starkey, a member of the Indy Homeless Connect organizing committee and a former homeless resident. Robert will be on hand to talk about the positive impact community outreach and services can have on those facing housing crisis.
